Flashtrek: Broken Mirror 4 has two game modes: Campaign and Conquest. The game is very similar to Flashtrek: Broken Mirror 1 in that it is virtually the same game, with the exception that it has a few new ships. Also, the Dominion race has been added to make the game just a little more interesting. The game's only drawback in terms of game modes is that its campaign mode is seriously underdeveloped, as it plays just like Conquest.
Race/Faction Selection
In the game there are six factions to choose from. You also have the option to stay neutral.
Factions:
- Neutral
- Federation/Empire (human)
- Klingon Empire
- Ferengi Alliance
- Romulan Empire
- The Vulcan Command
- The Dominion
Character Creation
Once you have selected your faction, you can create your character. The Character Creation menu will show you the ship you are starting with as well.
Buy/Sell
In the game, you can buy and sell goods with other ships and stations that have the trade function. You can also trade with planets.
Combat
Combat is half of the game. It's hard to survive for very long without a good ship and good weapons. There are those who will try to kill you, and some have a chance of succeeding. On the other hand, if you have a good ship and good weapons, you have a better chance of survival. Being a good pilot helps, too. Combat is challenging for players in small ships, expecially if they are going up against stations or larger vessels. However, the balance of power can be changed with hit and run tactics - a proven and effective strategy in the game.
Event Screen
The Event Screen is the news reporter of everything around the galaxy. If a faction wins an important victory, for example, you will be notified via the Event Screen.
